Last January after Bridal Fantasy I met up with a lovely couple to show them what Admire Studios had to offer for their wedding, and I remember leaving with a smile on my face after they felt that I was the kind of photographer they were looking for. This month as their Engagement photos approached we were talking about what they wanted to do, and they decided to revisit WP Wagner High School, where they met – in fact, we have photos on the steps where she first offered him a slurpee, starting a conversation that eventually developed into a relationship! This school is unique in that it has a horticultural program that Bryce was involved with, including a lovely community garden, a small crab apple orchard, and a greenhouse that seemed pretty big for a school! Gabriella’s little brother came along and watched her purse and explored – and found a frog for us! It was pretty perfect for them, because my first concrete memory of Gabriella is when I called her and she said, “Can you call back in 5 minutes? I’m feeding my snake.” Not the usual reason I get asked to call back later, and it made an impression right away. This is the second time a cute frog has found a cameo spot in my couple’s photos, and this one had a bit of a starring role with the lady’s ring. Princess and the frog, anyone?

As we began, Gabriella was a little nervous, but she soon relaxed and we found a nice groove to work in together. As they left, Bryce asked his soon-to-be brother-in-law if he wanted a slurpee – presumably because it was a hot day, and maybe a little bit to work on keeping up the nostalgia. I proceeded to text my husband to ask what kind of slurpee he wanted… so I have them to thank for my root beer slurpee and his conspicuously blue tongue the other day, and one of my favourite photos of the summer, their little dance under the arbor. P.S., if anyone ever wants a slurpee-themed Engagement session or trash the dress I am so down for that!

I am looking forward to their lovely wedding coming this February – look for the photos here!
